Over the course of three days, more than one hundred participants discussed questions such as: Do editions meet the research needs? Which standards should future projects adopt? How do digital editions remain accessible after the end of the project? How can edition projects be linked with each other?
At the Open Up DSE conference, a total of 6 sessions and two roundtables were held to discuss challenges and promising ways to make digital editions and the research data they contain more accessible and (re)usable.
Although many well-known challenges still remain, the animated presentations and discussions showed how the perspective in many research projects has shifted in recent years to questions of reusability. One expression of this was the lively discussions on the implementation of the FAIR principles. Another theme that ran through the conference was the role and function of infrastructures. With regard to Switzerland, a great need for coordination became apparent here.
